Beginner lessons for the young, aspiring pianist

Ages 4+

Lessons are 30 minutes long, offered both online or in-person.

Fun and engaging lessons that will cover the basics of piano, music notation, posture, and ear development.

Materials will be decided upon after the first lesson. This course is using an eclectic method, combining strategies from Faber, Alfred's, Bastien, Tales of Musical Journey. They progressively develop skills that prepare a student for the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum, if they so choose.

Late beginner/Intermediate/Advanced students wishing to develop their skills using the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum.

Lessons are minimum 45 minutes long, offered both online or in-person.

Students will progress through levels and be encouraged to participate in regular festivals, competitions, and examinations. Progress is self-paced, but requires committed practicing and engagement.

Perfect for the late-bloomer beginner or anyone who has previously taken lessons and wants to revive their skills in a casual and enjoyable way. This course is for those that wish to focus on popular genres, film music, and timeless classics free from rigorous curriculum training.

Materials will be uniquely compiled for each student.

Lessons are 1 hour, offered online or in-person.

Suitable for any student needing extra focus on their sight-reading, rhythm, and ear-training skills. Suitable for RCM exam preparation or Post-secondary audition training.

Existing Nova Nota students are not required to add this on top of regular lessons.

Suitable for any piano student needing extra focus on their technical requirements (including scales, chords, arpeggios). Suitable for RCM exam preparation, Post-secondary audition training, or technique rehabilitation. Students will be exposed to principles inspired by body-mapping and Alexander Technique philosophies to promote healthy and sustainable piano-playing.

Existing Nova Nota students are not required to add this on top of regular lessons.

All students welcome- including those not taking piano lessons at Nova Nota!

Suitable for any piano student needing extra exam preparation. Suitable for RCM exam preparation or Post-secondary audition training. Students will practice taking mock exams and receive advice on taking successful exams. Topics will include technique, memorization, mental preparation, and performance anxiety.

Existing Nova Nota students are not required to add this on top of regular lessons.
